Brad Powell:

Welcome back to the Standout Business Show. I’m your host, brad Powell, and right now I’d like you to imagine having a personal coach in your pocket, guiding you step by step through the process of creating impactful short form videos, just like you would if you were in a one-on-one session with me. Well, that’s exactly what I’ve just built with my own custom GPT that I’m calling Mic Drop Coach, and that’s because it’s trained specifically to coach you through my Mic Drop Moments method. And in today’s episode, I’m pulling back the curtain and showing you how this AI-driven tool works in real time. I’m going to walk you through a live example of how my custom GPT helps you create engaging, high-performing video content super easily. No more guessing what to say or how to structure your message, or even when to hit record. This custom GPT does it all for you, and I think it’s going to make video creation simpler and faster and more effective than ever before. So stay tuned to see how AI is transforming the way you can show up online and create content that truly stands out, and with that, let’s start the show.

Brad Powell:

All right, so I have been doing this Mic Drop Moments video creation method for the last few years. I started it right during the time of the pandemic, and my goal was to help people create content with very little pain, with very little time, with very little anything Like people spend an hour with me just one time a month or one time every other month and they get all their content done. And part of the way this works, and part of my whole approach, is that all of the people that I work with are experts in their field and they have a lot of knowledge and experience and stories and insights to share. That’s all stored up here in their brain and the trouble is getting it out there, especially getting out there on video. There’s a lot of roadblocks and there’s a lot of logjams in people who have never done video before, in helping them do that process, helping them get clear and concise with their messaging, and I’ve never thought that sitting down and facing a blank screen and trying to write a script is the best way to do this. My approach is very much interactive and it’s call and response, where I prompt my clients and they just respond to me. They respond to me in the way that they would if we were just having a conversation and from that kind of conversation I can be listening carefully and be pulling out their insights and their stories and their wisdom, and that I can turn into really great content. Well, that’s really cool, but there’s only one of me. Cool, but there’s only one of me.

Brad Powell:

So in the last little while, I have decided to try to train a custom GPT, a language model that would take my knowledge and my wisdom and my experience and be able to coach people through this same process. So I think I’ve done it and I just want to. I’ve been playing around with this tool and I’ve been kind of amazed at how well it works. So I’m excited to share it a little bit and I’m really curious to hear feedback from you. So if you are listening to this and would care to give me feedback, or if you would like early access to this tool, I’m going to start doing a little beta testing and I want to. You know the chosen few who are brave enough to try this out. You can reach out to me and I will hook you up and let you play with it. I want to see how well it’s working with anyone and refine it and make it better and then start making this available to anyone who is facing this challenge of wanting to make good video content but kind of struggling with that process, and this, I believe, is going to make the whole thing a whole lot easier, and I want to show you exactly how this can work.

Brad Powell:

Let’s take a look here. So when you come to the GBT, the first thing that you’ll see is that there’ll be a prompt at the start that you just push the button and it says help me start my mic drop moment video. And so you push that button and the first response I just tried this this morning the first response I got was awesome I love that. You’re ready to kick off your mic drop moment video. Let’s build a strong start together. And then it says first let’s pick a starting point based on the worksheet styles you’ve uploaded.

Brad Powell:

We have three main options to set the tone of your video, and this is all based on the knowledge base that I created for this. So the three choices are authority builder, where I can show my expertise and insights, or number two is personal brand builder, where I can share personal stories or struggles or win celebration. And number three is an informational expertise, which is quick tips or takeaways or how-to kind of guidance. So these are the three categories and basically it says to start, you can tell me which one you’re feeling pulled towards today, whether it’s authority, personal or expert tips. And it says I’ll guide you through crafting a bold, story-driven opening once you choose which one feels right. Doesn’t that sound like a helpful coach? So in this case I said okay, let’s do an authority builder. That’s the first choice. So it says perfect, authority builder, let’s make you look like the go-to expert right from the first sentence. And then here are a few Authority Builder prompts that we can start with. And of course, this is from the worksheet that I shared with it in the knowledge base.

Brad Powell:

So there’s actually five choices here. So it’s saying common questions that my audience is always asking me, or questions that they should be asking you but are not and they don’t realize yet. Number three objections people have that keeping them stuck. Four is myths or misconceptions that I want to bust wide open. And the fifth one is a big mistake you see people making over and over. And then it says pick one prompt which one feels juicy to you right now. And then it says, you know, I don’t have to choose. It says, if you want, I can toss a few quick examples to spark ideas, but I chose one. I said, okay, let’s go with big mistake. That was the last one. And so, yes, big mistake is always a powerful way to grab attention, telling people what they’re getting wrong and showing them how to fix it. So let’s shape this together. And there’s a couple of quick questions. And again it’s prompting me.

Brad Powell:

This is the same kind of thing that I would do when I’m coaching a client what’s the big mistake your audience or industry keeps making, or why does it matter? What’s the cost or consequence if they don’t fix it? And then it gives me this formula for stating the mistake. And so here’s the quote the number one mistake I see. And then, in parentheses, your audience, you have to fill that in. The number one mistake I see your audience making is. And then fill in the mistake and then it’s costing them and then painful consequence let’s fix it. So here’s giving me a format of how I can state the big mistake. So it says tell me what the big mistake is you’re fired up to talk about.

Brad Powell:

So this is what I wrote back. I said the number one mistake I see expert business leaders make that’s my audience is they’re overthinking when it comes to content marketing and it’s keeping their expertise hidden, because when they’re spending too much time second guessing what to say, they’re not showing up consistently. I just took the format and I stretched it out. I named my audience and I named the mistake and I also said something about what it’s costing them. So now it comes back to me and says that’s a great start Clear, bold and directly calling out the real issue. Let’s polish it just a tiny bit for a camera delivery to make it even more punchy and memorable. So it gives me a refined version. And that goes the number one mistake I see expert business leaders make overthinking their content marketing. And it’s costing them visibility, because when you’re stuck second guessing every word, you’re not showing up consistently. And if you’re not showing up, your expertise stays hidden.

Brad Powell:

And now it’s giving me two paths of what to say next. I can either do a story example or I can do a shift to solution. So in the story example, I would tell a quick little story from my experience, or in the shift, I would share a mindset shift that you need to fix your mistake. And then it’s saying which path do you want to do, story or solution? And I said story. So it goes. Love it. After your strong opening that’s calling out the mistake. I could flow right into something like and it gives me an example.

Brad Powell:

So I was working with this client recently and they had so much expertise to share, but every time they sat down to create content, they overthought every single post. They’d spend hours tweaking one paragraph. Meanwhile people who needed their help most they never even saw them. So now it’s giving me some suggestions Coaching suggests make it relatable, highlight how common this struggle is, keep it short a 30 to 45 second story works best and then emphasize the turnaround. So these are really great coaching suggestions, as I’m thinking of, what is it that I want to say in my story? So I wrote back and told this story.

Brad Powell:

I was working with a brilliant executive business coach recently and she had so much expertise to share, but every time she made video with me, she overthought the process, obsessing over small details like the font colors in her captions and sharing the video privately with friends before posting it online. Weeks would go by without publishing her content and meanwhile the people who needed her help the most they never even saw them. So that was my story, and can you see this process here of. I’ve been going through this thing and I didn’t have this story in mind to tell, but through this coaching of the AI helping me with my prompts, I’ve now told a little story that’s very real and quite relatable. So my coach is now telling me perfect, now we can stitch this into a powerful, flowing story for your mic drop moment. And then it gives me a whole new opening here. Here’s how your full opening could sound, naturally paced for video. Here’s the opening line.

Brad Powell:

The number one mistake I see expert leaders make overthinking their content marketing, and it’s costing them visibility, because when you stuck second guessing every word, you’re not showing up consistently, and if you’re not showing up, your expertise stays hidden. Here comes the story. I was working with a brilliant executive business coach recently and she had so much expertise to share, but every time she made a video with me, she would overthink the process, obsessing over tiny details like the font color in her captions and privately sharing the video with friends before daring to post it online. Weeks would go by without publishing anything. Meanwhile, the people who needed her help most they never even saw her. So you can see that there’s these subtle shifts and refinements that my GPT coach is helping me do.

Brad Powell:

And then it gives me this optional add-on and that’s the real cost of overthinking Invisibility. Done is always better than perfect when it comes to showing up as a leader. And then it gives me some pacing tips, saying slow down just a beat when you say they never even saw her. So not only is it helping me around what I should say, but it’s actually helping me in around how to say it. And then it asks the question would you like me to help you with a mic drop style closing line to wrap this up? Would you like me to help you with a mic drop style closing line to wrap this up? And I said, yes, let’s do a closing line and maybe a call to action to get help creating their own mic drop moments.

Brad Powell:

So here are three potential closing lines. One is your message doesn’t make an impact if it stays locked in your head. Show up, speak up. Your people are waiting. Option number two experts don’t hide, they lead. Stop overthinking and start owning your brilliance. And number three the only thing standing between you and the impact you’re meant to make is you. Let’s fix that. So I like that one because it segues right into my invitation and the call to action would be if you’re ready to finally show up and create your own mic drop moments without second guessing, let’s talk. Drop a fire emoji in the comments or DM me mic drop and I’ll send you the details. And then it gives me this structure of like here’s how your flow could go A strong opening, a real story, the big truth, which is the closing line, and then a clear invitation. So now I’ve got a complete structure and I’ve got all these ideas of what to do. Then it says would you like me to also show you how this could sound if you wanted a slightly more storytelling style? So I said yes, that sounds cool. So in the storytelling style, this is how it wraps up.

Brad Powell:

I see brilliant leaders every day, people with the exact expertise someone else is praying for, holding back because they’re stuck chasing perfection. And if that’s you hear me out Showing up imperfectly is still showing up. And your next client? They’re not looking for perfection, they’re looking for you. So if you’re ready to stop second guessing and start creating your own mic drop moments, the kind that actually reach the people who need you, let’s talk and then drop a fire emoji in the comments or DM me mic drop and I’ll show you how we can make it happen. So that’s stronger right little kernel of an idea and I’ve been working with my chat GPT coach and it’s really made something that I think is powerful and resonant with exactly the kind of people that I am wanting to talk to.

Brad Powell:

And if you want to go further, you know down here it’s going on and suggested video title ideas and hook caption ideas in terms of writing a description for this video that makes people want to watch it. So this mic drop coach will take you start to finish through anything that you might want to think about doing in terms of your content and you just go through the same process. You know, when you get back to the beginning, you pick do you want to do an authority builder? Do you want to build your personal brand or do you want to showcase your expertise? And you pick one of those and it’ll just keep prompting you all the way through and through this process process, you will come up with and refine your ideas so that you can talk through any short form piece of content that you would like to create.

Brad Powell:

You can see that this is a fairly simple and painless process and the other thing that’s cool about this is that you can set this up where, let’s say, you mount your phone on a tripod and you turn on your computer and you’re interacting with the chat GPT and you turn on the microphone to the GPT so that when it prompts you and says, okay, tell me your story. Well, you turn the microphone on and start speaking and you hit record on your phone and you start speaking and now you’re recording to your phone and chat GPT will be listening and it will follow up and give you more feedback and refine what you’re saying even more so that you can repeat that. You can then hit record on your phone, turn the microphone and speak again and this coach will walk you through the whole thing so that when you’re done, instead of having this all just written down, you’ll actually have your recording on your phone and your video will be complete. I just think this is amazing, like. This absolutely is the future of where marketing is going, and I’m excited about this and I hope that this excites you too.

Same thing Reach out to me and we can talk and see what kind of thing you’re thinking of doing with video and how I can help you do it even better. All right, that’s what I have for you today.
