Brad Powell:

Welcome back to the Standout Business Show, where we help expert entrepreneurs build a remarkable brand, stand out in their market and win the clients you deserve. I’m your host, Brad Powell, and today we’re going to talk about something that hits way too close to home for a lot of brilliant service providers. We’re talking about the big frustration that no one talks about. Let’s say, you’re exceptional at what you do, your clients are getting real results and you’ve invested years, maybe even decades, honing your craft, but despite all that, you’re not seeing the traction you should be. If you’ve ever thought to yourself why am I still chasing clients? Or why do people with less experience seem to get more attention? Or why does it feel like I’m practically invisible online? Well, this episode is for you, because today I’m sharing five signs that, even though you’re the best at what you do, you’re still getting overlooked. So let’s see if any of these sound familiar. You’re struggling to stand out in a crowded market. You’re surrounded by competitors who are offering similar services and, let’s be honest, not all of them are as skilled as you are, but they’ve nailed their positioning. They’re known for something and you, you might still be seen as just another option. So the truth is being good, just isn’t good enough. You have to be different in a way that matters. Number two your lead generation is sporadic at best. If your calendar is swinging between feast and famine, and if most of your leads are coming through referrals and word of mouth, if you have no idea where your next client is going to come from, this is a sign that your marketing isn’t working for you. So what you need is a system that is consistently attracting the right people, and these are the people who see your value and are ready to invest. Number three your content doesn’t reflect your expertise. So let’s say you’re posting here and there and you’re doing your best to stay active online, but the truth is a lot of your content is feeling kind of generic and you’re not saying what you really want to say, or, worse, you’re following trends that just don’t align with how you actually work. So if your message isn’t attracting high quality leads, it really might be time to stop playing it safe.

Brad Powell:

Signal number four is you’re overwhelmed by all the marketing hype and all the marketing noise. You know the funnels, the ads, the reels, the email sequences. Every marketing guru’s got a different playbook that they’re trying to pitch you. And if you’re trying to do it all, that just becomes exhausting. It becomes this never-ending gerbil wheel and actually, as an expert, you don’t need more tactics. What you need is a simpler, smarter strategy that actually fits your business and fits your bandwidth, the amount of time you have or the amount of time you don’t have. All right.

Brad Powell:

Number five and this is the final one dear to my heart you’re not using video or video you’re using it poorly. So let’s talk about trust. If your next best client sees your face, hears your voice and feels your passion, they’re going to be sold. But if you’re hiding behind text posts or you’re putting off video because it’s feeling too uncomfortable, you’re leaving the ability to make real connection and conversion on the table. The truth is, video done right doesn’t just build trust. It sets you apart and it makes your brand unforgettable. And the need for video to show who we are as a brand has never been greater and it’s only going to grow over the next several years. I mean, right now, over 80% of the time that people are spending online is watching video. All you have to do is glance at YouTube and TikTok to understand why this is true. For example, you can’t just say you’ve got the best thing or you’ve got the best people, You’ve got to show it in very unique ways.

Brad Powell:

So here’s my question how many of those five signs hit home? If even only one of them resonated with you, it’s probably time to take a closer look at your personal brand, your positioning and the way you’re showing up online. And the good news, you don’t have to guess as to where to start, which is exactly why I created the Standout Business Scorecard.
