Module 3 Notes: How to be memorable on video

Video Structure Review
3 ‘did you know’ questions
‘imagine’ with 3 benefits
‘you don’t have to imagine…’

Create a repeatable phrase: Say something they’ll remember
– if they can’t repeat it, they didn’t get it
– true communication isn’t what you say – it’s what the receiver takes away

It’s not enough to earn people’s attention in the moment. You want to continue to earn people’s attention ongoing…
The goal is for people to be so intrigued with you, your ideas, your offering, that they voluntarily choose to share it

Create enduring content that’s top-of-mind

“phrase that pays” – Hollywood example: are people walking out of theaters quoting something they heard word for word?

When people watch your video, can they repeat anything you said word-for-word??

Example: ‘What’s it mattah?’ story

Your phrase should:

  • sum up the message you want people to remember
  • distills the action you want people to take into eight words or less
  • resonates so that people voluntarily share it
  • works as a title – so you can merchandize it and monetize it

Rules
8 words or less
Put your words into a beat so they’re easy to repeat
– “what happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas”
– “if you see something say something”
Use alliteration
– “java jackets”
Use rhyme – if you want to be remembered over time
– “buckle up for safety” vs “click it or ticket”

Pause on delivery
when it’s time to deliver your big idea…put space…around your words…then deliver it… then wait 3 more seconds for it to sink in

Draw attention to it ahead of time:

the most surprising revelation from our research was…
please write this down so you can share it
the most important thing I’ve leanred it
if you remember anything from today, I hope it’s this…
then pause

“The purpose of life is to matter; to feel it’s made some difference you have lived at all”

If you want to do more than just get people’s attention – if you want it to matter – then say something that motivates people to do something differently so the get real world value from your work

Assignment:

– Create your memorable phrase & make a video to share it
– Incorporate your memorable phrase into your full ‘Did you know…?’ offer video and share it in the FB group
