Brad Powell:

If you’ve ever thought, I’m just too busy running my business to show up online, this is for you. Most experts think that marketing is a separate task. It’s something you do after your client calls and after you’ve cleared your inbox and when you’ve put all the fires out? Well, spoiler alert, that moment never comes. I’ve worked with dozens of high-level experts and I’ve helped them show up online without spending a lot of extra time. None of them had to go and create more content, they just captured what was already there. But what if I told you that your very best content, the kind that builds trust and attracts perfect fit clients, was already happening in your day? In this video, I’m going to show how a simple mindset shift and a three-minute habit can turn your busiest days into your most powerful marketing. So buckle up, here we go. I want to challenge the belief that gaining visibility and showing up on video requires a whole lot more time. Here’s the thing that hardly anyone will tell you growing a strong personal brand, that kind that builds trust and makes you the go-to authority for a thing that you do should feel easy. But if you’re an expert entrepreneur and you feel like you’re kind of hidden online, well, there’s nothing wrong with you. It’s just that you’ve been working with a broken model. And we’re here to fix that. Here’s the key principle that I want you to remember. You don’t need to create content. You just need to capture it. You are undoubtedly sharing all kinds of value every single day. When you share a DM, when you’re on a Zoom call, when you’re in a team meeting, whenever you’re working with a client, or maybe if you’re a guest on a podcast. All of these situations are moments where you are in your absolute zone of genius, and it is easy for you to share your expertise and to share the thing that you are so good at doing. So the problem isn’t that you’re not marketing. The problem is that you’re not documenting the marketing that is already happening. So let’s address the mindset challenge when it comes to talking about your work on camera. Try this simple mindset shift that’s going to make your content creation feel really easy. Think of something that you do every day without thinking about it, uh like tying your shoes. And then apply these three words, capable, ease, and certain to tying your shoes. And then say out loud, like literally, get down on the floor and start tying your shoe. And while you’re tying your shoe, say, I’m capable of tying my shoe. And then feel how capable you are. Actually, get into the feeling, don’t just say it. And then say, it’s easy to tie my shoes. And then get in the feeling of how easy it is. It’s like I could tie my shoes with my eyes closed. And then the third word, I am certain that I can tie my shoes. And then feel the certainty. Like literally embody, I’m absolutely confident of tying my shoes. There’s no way that I’m not going to be able to tie my shoe. That exercise, that shift in your brain, now your brain is tuned to feel capable, at ease, and certain. And all you need to do now is apply that to the moment when you are talking about your work. I am capable of talking about my work. Talking about my work is easy. And I am certain that I can talk about my work. Usually, as entrepreneurs, you know, we’re passionate about what we do. And so when someone comes up to us and says, What do you do? Tell me more, we’ll just be a fountain of all kinds of information. And this is the mindset and the zone you want to be in. And when you are talking with a client or when you’re talking with a team member, you can be in that same moment of capability and ease and certainty. And when you’re in that moment, that is what we want to capture. We want to capture those moments. These are moments that I call mic drop moments. And here’s the key secret to this your calendar is your content strategy. That day, the Tuesday that is full of Zoom calls back to back. Look at all the content that’s going to come from all of those Zoom calls. If you’re recording every single one of those calls, then all of a sudden you have these moments, you have these nuggets, you have these pearls of wisdom that you’re going to express during those times when you’re in your zone of genius, when you are feeling capable and at ease and certain of your abilities to talk to whoever it is that you’re talking about, capture that in a recording, and then you can turn that into some of your very best content that anyone has ever seen from you. And there’s no shortage, like your week is full of this kind of thing. Any expert that has a full calendar has a huge amount of content that they’re already creating. And here’s the beauty of this model: you don’t need a studio. You’ve got Zoom. And you don’t need a script, you just speak in the way that you ordinarily would. And you don’t need more time, you just need a system that puts this into place. Let the brilliance, your everyday brilliance, let that be the showcase for your authority. So if you’ve been feeling kind of behind of all the other online creators out there, don’t beat yourself up too much. It’s not your fault. Expert entrepreneurs like you and me weren’t meant to be content creators. We don’t want to participate in the creator economy. We’re participating in the expert economy. And you know you have a lot of value. You have years of experience. You’ve got lots of proof of the work that you do. You’ve got clients that love the work you do. You just need a better way to capture you in your zone of genius.
